J. Murphy M/D Newcastle United
Takes three shots in loss
Murphy put three shots off target and created one chance from five crosses (one accurate) during 64 minutes of Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Leeds United.
Murphy left with a reasonable stat line but was running out of steam before he was replaced by Allan Saint-Maximin midway through the second half. It was Murphy's first start in three appearances but he'll face increased competition for playing time as Saint-Maximin returns to full fitness. Up next is a trip to Everton.
2021-01-28 08:00
K. Phillips M Leeds United
Strong in return
Phillips logged three crosses (one accurate) and made five tackles (one won) during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Newcastle United.
Phillips led his team in tackles and crosses during his return from a one-match suspension. His value has remained steady if unimpressive due to his offensive obligations and sharing set piece duties with other players. That places some fairly firm limits on the potential value of Phillips, who will next face a tougher Leicester City defense.
2021-01-28 08:00
G. Lo Celso M Tottenham Hotspur
Remains out
Lo Celso (muscular) will remain out ahead of Thursday's match against Liverpool, according to manager Jose Mourinho.
Lo Celso hasn't appeared since December and the team has given no indication he's been back in training, which means at least another week on the shelf. Spurs have been fine without him, but they'll need depth behind Tanguy Ndombele over the busy schedule.
2021-01-28 08:00
J. Harrison M Leeds United
Scores in win
Harrison scored one goal from two shots (one on goal) and conceded a yellow card during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Newcastle United.
Harrison has contributed to at least one goal on a consistent four-game basis since the third match of the season. He wasn't nearly as productive in crosses or chance creation in this match but he didn't necessarily have to be in order to get his goal. Up next is a trip to Leicester City, which are tied for the fewest crosses conceded to midfielders in the league.
2021-01-28 08:00
Giannis Antetokounmpo F Milwaukee Bucks
Eyes triple-double in win
Antetokounmpo scored 24 points (8-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 8-14 FT) to go with 18 rebounds, nine assists, one steal and one block across 38 minutes in a 115-108 win over Toronto on Wednesday.
Antetokounmpo fell short of a triple-double in his second straight outing. However, the forward is still averaging a double-double this season. Despite seeing a slight dip in some notable offensive categories this year, Antetokounmpo is matching his career-high for three-pointers made per contest with 1.4 makes from deep this season. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, the 26-year-old is setting a career-high mark for turnovers with 3.9 per game.
2021-01-28 08:00
Shai GilgeousAlexander G Oklahoma City Thunder
Sniffs triple-double in win
Gilgeous-Alexander chipped in with 21 points (6-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks across 31 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Suns.
Gilgeous-Alexander struggled with his shot all game long and needed 18 field-goal attempts to end as the Thunder's joint-best scorer with 21 points, but he also found a way to fill the stat sheet while also ending just three boards and two dimes away from what would've been his first triple-double of the season. The third-year floor general is averaging career-high marks in both points and assists this season, and he should remain the Thunder's most reliable fantasy performer on a nightly basis.
2021-01-28 08:00
OG Anunoby F Toronto Raptors
Won't play Wednesday
Anuoby (calf) is unavailable for Wednesday's game versus the Bucks, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
Anunoby was considered questionable with a left calf strain and will be sidelined for at least one game. Norman Powell, Terence Davis and Stanley Johnson could see increased run Wednesday, especially if Pascal Siakam (knee), who is a game-time decision, is also unavailable.
2021-01-28 08:00
Dorian FinneSmith F Dallas Mavericks
Back in action Wednesday
Finney-Smith (COVID-19 protocols) is available Wednesday against the Jazz.
The 27-year-old missed the past nine games while going through the league's COVID-19 protocols, but he'll return to the court Wednesday at Utah. Per Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News, Finney-Smith will start in his return to the court against the Jazz. He was averaging 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 29.3 minutes before the absence, but he could have some limitations since he hasn't seen game action since Jan. 7.
2021-01-28 08:00
Terry Rozier G Charlotte Bobcats
Leads way with 20 points
Rozier scored 20 points (8-18 FG, 3-9 3PT, 1-2 FT) to go along with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 33 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Pacers.
Rozier led the Hornets in scoring despite a relatively inefficient shooting performance. After a brief stretch of quiet performances, Rozier has bounced back to score 24 and 20 points in his last two contests. Rozier also continues to contribute on the defensive end of the floor, as he's averaging career-best marks of 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks per game to this point in the campaign.
2021-01-28 08:00
Andre Drummond C Cleveland Cavaliers
Hauls in 16 rebounds
Drummond went for 23 points (9-24 FG, 5-8 FT), 16 rebounds, five steals, two assists and two blocks in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 122-107 win over the Pistons.
Just another day at the office for the Cavs' big man who now has nine games with over 15 rebounds including two games with more than 20 boards.. His shooting had been better of late. Excluding Wednesday's outing, Drummond had not shot under 40 percent in nine consecutive games.
2021-01-28 08:00
Dejounte Murray G San Antonio Spurs
Grabs 11 rebounds Wednesday
Murray contributed 11 points (5-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and a steal across 36 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Celtics.
Murray is one of the best rebounding guards in the league, and he showed it again Wednesday -- it was the fifth time this season he grabbed 10 or more boards. He has six or more rebounds in six of his last seven games and has scored in double digits five times during that span as well. His ability to stuff the stat sheet and produce on both ends of the court makes Murray a strong fantasy alternative across most formats even if his scoring figures aren't the best.
2021-01-28 08:00
Keldon Johnson F San Antonio Spurs
Notches another double-double
Johnson registered 18 points (9-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt), 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal across 31 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Celtics.
Johnson displayed a few inconsistencies earlier this season but seems to be trending in the right direction of late, and he has scored 10 or more points in eight straight contests -- he is averaging 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game during that eight-game span. The Spurs -- and fantasy managers alike -- can certainly use those levels of consistency moving forward, as that seems to be the next step in Johnson's development.
2021-01-28 08:00
Collin Sexton G Cleveland Cavaliers
Drops team-high 29 in win
Sexton dropped 29 points (10-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals over 35 minutes Wednesday during the Cavs' 122-107 win over the Pistons.
After two straight games shooting under 40 percent from the floor, Wednesday was a welcome sight as his 71.4 percent shooting was a season high. The one negative for Sexton has been turnovers, as he's averaging 5.0 per game over his last three games.
2021-01-28 08:00
Jayson Tatum F Boston Celtics
Scores team-high 25 points
Tatum posted 25 points (11-25 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and four steals across 34 minutes in Wednesday's loss against the Spurs.
Tatum has scored 24 and 25 points in his first two games of the season following a five-game absence due to him contracting COVID-19, and the star forward hasn't skipped a beat despite the fact he spent nearly two and a half weeks out of action. Tatum has now scored 24 or more points in seven straight games and should remain the Celtics' main scoring threat going forward, alongside Jaylen Brown.
2021-01-28 08:00
Kemba Walker G Boston Celtics
Struggles from field in loss
Walker delivered 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt), two assists and a steal across 27 minutes in Wednesday's loss against the Spurs.
Walker remains on a minutes restriction and it's clear he hasn't been able to shake off all the rust. He has scored in double digits in four straight games and has reached that feat in all but one contest since his season debut. He is shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range, though, and both marks would be their worst of their last six seasons. He should post better numbers as he keeps playing, though, and the potential is there for him to become a more valuable fantasy asset as the season progresses.
2021-01-28 08:00
Eric Gordon G Houston Rockets
Maintains 20-point streak
Gordon poured in 20 points (6-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT) to accompany four assists, two rebounds and one steal across 29 minutes Tuesday in a 107-88 win over the Wizards.
With John Wall and Victor Oladipo starting together for the first time, Gordon moved to the second unit, but the 32-year-old still managed to reach the 20-point mark for the fifth consecutive game. The Rockets remained without one of their higher-usage players in Christian Wood (ankle) on Tuesday; once he's back in action, Gordon could see both his playing time and field-goal opportunities begin to trend down. For the time being, though, Gordon is probably worth holding for fantasy managers in 12-team leagues who need his points and threes.
2021-01-28 08:00
Larry Nance Jr. F Cleveland Cavaliers
Questionable for Wednesday
The Cavaliers list Nance (wrist) as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Nance's sprained right wrist sidelined him for Monday's 115-108 loss to the Lakers, marking his first absence of the season. Withers notes that Nance was spotted on the Cleveland bench Monday with a brace on the wrist, so he could be closer to doubtful than questionable for Wednesday's contest. In the event Nance sits out a second straight game, Cedi Osman or Taurean Prince would likely draw a start at power forward.
2021-01-28 07:30
Clint Capela C Atlanta Hawks
Good to go Wednesday
Capela (hand) is available Wednesday against the Nets, Brad Rowland of PeachtreeHoops.com reports.
The 26-year-old was considered questionable for Wednesday's contest with a sore right hand, but he's been cleared to play and should take his usual place in Atlanta's starting five. Capela is averaging 18.4 points, 16.4 rebounds, 3.6 blocks and 1.1 steals in 33.3 minutes over his past seven games.
2021-01-28 07:30
Pascal Siakam F Toronto Raptors
To be game-time call
Siakam (knee) will be a game-time call for Wednesday's matchup against Milwaukee, Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Swelling in his left knee has already cost Siakam the last two games, but there's hope that he'll be cleared to return to the lineup Wednesday night. Look for a more definitive update closer to the 7:30 PM ET tip.
2021-01-28 07:30
Miguel Ángel Almirón Rejala M Newcastle United
Scores in loss
Almiron scored one goal from two shots (both on goal) and created three chances during Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Leeds United.
Almiron collected his second goal of the season after capitalizing on an opponents' mistake in midfield and quickly pushing towards the goal. While he's made steady improvements during each seasons since joining Newcastle, Almiron's fantasy value has been a little more spotty because of how few chances he gets to score and how much defensive work he's required to do. He'll next face Everton, which are tied for the fifth-most shots and tackles conceded to midfielders in the EPL.
